Both Bob and Terry Bender have spent many days touring the country in their motorhome , and while they have seen many beautiful places, there is truly "no place like home". And while they always enjoyed their trips, they were equally happy to find their way back to that special placed called Haycock.
In Haycock, the warmth of small-town charm is alive and well, where neighbors not only share a fun nickname but also a bond, always ready to lend a helping hand and watch out for one another like family.
Our children love to visit us in (as they call it): "Downtown Applebachsville"
Embracing the Small-Town Feel
Bob, with family support, has decided to run for Supervisor to help protect and retain the charm of small-town life as beautifully embodied in the welcoming atmosphere of local spots like Becker's, La Campagna, the Mountain Store, and the world famous, Raven's Nest, where community members gather to share meals and stories.
Churches are available and beautiful, the community center is quickly becoming a hub of community activity, and our community history is being preserved and protected by the Historical Society. We are blessed with an experienced and efficient Volunteers Fire Company, which we all need to support. - Watch the Community Center Calendar for events.
Bob and Terry were first introduced to Haycock many years ago when visiting Lake Towhee on a fishing trip, and shortly thereafter found the beautiful landscapes of Lake Nockamixon, and Haycock Mountain.
A few years later, after finding our home in Haycock, we were greeted and welcomed by many new friends in several local establishments throughout the township. Sandy, Annie, John and Mona, and the lovely ladies and staff at La Campagna all helped to give us a real sense of belonging and connection.
The picturesque scenery and parks helps us enjoy time at our newly adopted family home and community, as we enjoy hosting or children and grandchildren while exploring the outdoors together. This community environment is perfect to teach our grandchildren about the essence of community, making their every visit feel like a return home. They still talk about the "Trunk and Treat" last year when they decorated my tractor and garden cart for a family "hayride" over to the community center.
Living in Haycock has given us a renewed sense of neighborhood and community values, and we want to help preserve that experience for everyone who lives here now, and especially for the generations to follow.
This campaign is all about Restoring Haycock Unity, and if we wish to be successful, we will all need to work together to make that happen.
I do not believe that I have an opponent, as I am not running against any individual(s), faction, any single issue, or with any personal or political hidden agenda.
I am running FOR unity, a properly run township, for civil and respectful discussions and debate when needed, and to put a stop to the name-calling at meetings, people talking "at one another", as opposed to speaking respectfully "to one another".
We can best overcome problems by returning to a time when residents and taxpayers know how to "disagree without being disagreeable".
No one person can make this happen, so if you agree with me, I respectfully ask for your support and assistance during my campaign and especially on Election Day.
I will be an independent thinker and voice, and will hold myself responsible only to my friends, neighbors and taxpayers of Haycock Township. I am not accepting any campaign contributions from any PAC, Political Party, and I paying every campaign expense myself. If elected, I will not accept any taxpayer funded salary, insurance, or other stipend. If I need to attend a training session or Supervisors conference out of the area, I will pay my own way, including transportation, lodging, and meals. I will file a state ethics form with the township each year - which I will make available to the public every year I hold office.
